The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

Names, email addresses, Google- and Facebook-linked email addresses on our member sign-up forms. 

 

 

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

- To keep in touch about your ideas, to inform members of other people's ideas, and to keep members informed about news and updates surrounding GRoW. 

- We collect this information via our membership sign-up form or via email or social media and at events.

- We contact people who have contacted us on the basis that they are interested in GRoW and its projects.

- We will pass on information to third parties should you have asked us or it is implied that you want us to pass on your details – eg if you have volunteered to help with a project we will pass your details on to other volunteers/organisations. 

- You can withdraw your contest to be contacted or have your details removed from our databases by emailing: grassrootsofwigan@gmail.com. Third parties should be contacted separately. 

- We have a legitimate interest.

 

 

 

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored online in a password-protected account. 

We keep personal information for 18 months or longer if the person has expressed that they want to be involved in GRoW or one of its linked projects long-term. We will then dispose your information by deleting it from our databases and removing you as a member from GRoW – you may rejoin if you have not been banned for breaching our Terms Of Use.

 

 

 

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
